We host custom fan-made episodes, that is, collection of
levels (or maps) that you can play in the game. To download episodes that
people have made and sent us, visit our Episode
Database. You will find all sorts of interesting bits and pieces varying from
one-level episodes to episodes with tens of levels to play! Everything from classic Janne
Kivilahti style to modern space travel adventure.
Welcome to PK2Lib!
Hello and welcome to the Pekka Kana 2 Library (PK2Lib for short)
— a semi-official fan-driven project that provides a database of free episodes
(collection of game maps) and other resources for Pekka Kana 2, an
old-school freeware 2D platformer!
We provide links for downloading maps & resources made by the fandom of Pekka Kana 2 and
publish reviews, tutorials and other additional stuff related to PK2.
All services provided are completely free, and all the episodes and resources published by us
are released under a Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial Share-Alike License. Visit
our Disclaimer and License page for more information.
If you have no clue what Pekka Kana 2 is all about, but are a friend of old-school platform
games, we recommend you take a look at our page about Pekka
We have tons of other resources than episodes, as well, like custom sprites, level
backgrounds and tilesets. You can find them in our Resource
We also have stuff to make your life easier, such as the unofficial sprite editor. We also
host all the other games produced by Piste Gamez, as well as all the soundtracks of those
games. See our Downloads main page for anything you might be
interested in downloading.
Having Trouble Running PK2?
We Have a Solution for You!
It has proven to be very tricky to get Pekka Kana 2 working on modern Windows systems, such
as Windows 7 and the most recent one, Windows 10. Your game might have weird colors or black
boxes around sprites — and in the worst case, the game might not run at all.
Fortunately, we have a solution for you — multiple solutions, in fact! On Windows 7 and
older systems, shutting down explorer.exe (that is, the Windows Explorer) has seemed to
help. However, that is an awful way of doing things.
As the source code of Pekka Kana 2 has been published and is open for everyone to play with,
we are developing a new version for modern operating systems that, in fact, runs in the
browser — if it is in fact possible which it might not be. In that case, we might try
to port it on some other platform. For more information about this project, see our page for
There is also a remake on the works by piotrulos. More information about that you can find
You can apply for an episode reviewer/tester position. As an episode reviewer/tester, you are
test untested episodes,
take screenshots for episodes that do not have any yet and
write episode reviews on our blog.
Even if you are not a member of our staff, you can, of course, send us screenshots of your
own episode that we are hosting or even include them in the episode itself.
If you are a fan of PK2 or other Piste Gamez’ games but don’t want to do any episode testing
or write reviews, you can still register to our blog. It will be easier to comment blog
posts. So if you comment a lot, it is considerable to register a profile.
Are you an episode creator, a map maker? Would you like to have your very own episode that
you created to be available for download on our Episode Database? No problem! Send you
episodes to us, and we will add it to the database.
We have loads of different kind of help articles and tutorials for understanding how the
level editor, the game itself and different kind of files work. If you want to know how to
construct a tileset or how the color palettes in PK2 images work, we recommend you check out
our help page.
